sweet corn soup

RIP Sweet Corn Soup from Chili's! It was my favorite reason to go there. Chili's has now been dropped from my top three list of restaurants to an unimportant number.

To-Do list addition: Learn how to make Sweet Corn Soup.

I just learned some pretty cool things. There are lyrics in Bohemian Rhapsody that I had never known before. When I would sing along to Bohemian Rhapsody I would just make up something that sounded right when I had no idea what Freddy was saying. (If you think about it, how much do you do that when you sing along to songs, and you don't even know that you don't know the lyrics?) So here are new words I learned from Queen tonight.

Scaramouche- meaning buffoon. "I see a little silhouetto of a man. Scaramouche, scaramouche, will you do the fandango?"

Bismillah- in the name of God. "Bismillah! No, we will not let you go! (Let him go!) Bismillah! We will not let you go!"

Then I started listening to "Killer Queen" and was singing along (another song I realized I don't know half of the real words), and had a revelation that should have come a long time ago. It's about a transvestite. That was a big "duh" moment for me.

Well, I started talking about soup and ended on transvestites. I think this post has been successful.

victoria vance

Last week, a good friend Victoria and her band-mate Kevin had a mini-concert at my place. I had never heard them play before, so I was excited to hear it. They brought ice cream sundaes and lots of friends and played a concert that lasted for about 45 minutes.

I was so impressed! Victoria sang so beautifully, and their original songs blew me away! I haven't heard such great music like this in a long time. It definitely beats the new "pop" that's on the radio these days.

Please, check them out. They are called Victoria Vance and the Brown Man Band. They have a band page where they posted a few of their songs. My favorite is "Amanda's Lullaby." Click the band name to go to their music page.

She's a great musician, but she's also a pretty darn good and funny friend, too.

things movies teach us that's wrong #1

Sing to a beautiful girl you've never met about how you are always beside her, watching her, and that you want to steal her.

"I feel you, Johanna,
I feel you.
I was half convinced I'd waken,
Satisfied enough to dream you.
Happily I was mistaken,
Johanna.
I'll steal you, Johanna,
I'll steal you."

I promise she won't throw a key down to you, pack a bag to run away with you, or sit next to her window so you can see her.

"I'll steal you, Johanna,
I'll steal you.
Do they think that walls could hide you?
Even now, I'm at your window.
I am in the dark beside you,
Buried sweetly in your yellow hair!"
