writing... and writing...

I have to write a final paper by tomorrow. And I am sooooo not inspired to write at all. Here is my first draft.

This is my title

This paper is about Antigone. She is a girl that has two dead brothers. One is buried the other is rotting and being eated by animals. She has a fiance named Haimon and a sister named Ismene. Her uncle is a stuck up jerk, and she commits suicide in a cave.
In conclusion, BYU football rules!!!

That's it... I think it's a good start!

Quote of the Day (from a few weeks ago... but I just remembered it...):

Philly: "Johny J is the new alpha male because soon, he will mate."

e-mail

Just a funny thing... Life is always humorous when you're not very awake.

A while ago I registered at a wedding website, "TheKnot.com" to get picture ideas, and information, and the sort to help plan my wedding. Well, I keep getting emails from them, and I never open them. But seriously, I get one and sometimes two every day. I just delete them, but it's kind of annoying.

So this morning, I opened up my email, and saw that I had one from them. And, in the subject bar, I read, "We won't leave you alone!" I just thought, Tell me about it! And was a little confused about why they would say that. Then I re-read it, and discovered that it actually said, "We won't leave you at the alter!" So that's my funny story of today.

8 more days!!!!!!

chocolate covered english

I loved Othello! Mostly, I loved the character Iago. He was soooo evil. Like Satan evil. Sneaky, lying, deceiving, and secretive. A guy one loves to hate.

I want to finish my homework (who knows how long this is going to take...) and then put on a Disney movie and fall asleep on the couch watching it. My motivation is that this is the last homework assignment for my English class besides the final paper.

I am completely addicted to chocolate covered Jordan almonds. Mmm... I'm eating some now... but they're almost gone! I need to make a trip to the candy counter in the bookstore!

Quotes of the Day:

Me: "If Skittles taste like rainbows then rainbows must taste like crap."

and quotes from my English class's discussion about Othello (which then went off topic to talk about Romeo and Juliet). I don't know if you all think that these are funny. I thought they were hilarious. Maybe you have to be there, maybe you have to be an English student to appreciate them. But if you can't tell, Professor Gordon-Smith likes to make fun of us. A lot.

Student One: "It was Desdemona's fault!"
Professor: "She deserves to die!! The pillow is a symbol of vindication!!"

and

Professor: "He says she deserves to die and all the women's hands go up!"

and

Student Two: "The tragedy comes because they were young and impulsive and ruined each others' lives. Not very tragic for emo kids."

and

Student Three: "They weren't in love! Sure, they liked each other, but they weren't in love! They were 14!"
Professor: "So one of the most respected love stories means nothing...? No, I don't like it, either. I don't know why you would."

just chill

It seems like my whole life has turned upside down on my head lately.
It seems like I can't get anything right, or like I can even do it all.
It seems like my to do list keeps growing, and growing, and growing no matter how much I get done.
It seems like time is moving slower than ever, but that I don't have enough of it to finish what I need to do..
It seems like I can't get any peace, and that everything is in disarray.
It seems like no matter how much I sleep I still wake up feeling like I've only slept an hour.

It tells me I need to make a trip to the temple.

Ciao.

all in the timing

The one night I was planning on going to FHE... the one night that Amanda is gone, and John is at work until late and I'm home alone and actually motivated to go... the one night it's a big ward movie party at the Bishop's house...

I get assigned to read all of Othello for my English class and write an analytical paper about it.

Ugh.

Quote of the Day about the Greek tragedy Antigone:

Professor Gordon-Smith: "So, does anyone like this play? Anyone?"
Silence
Professor: "You all hate it. Great. Well, I guess let's talk about it."

and

Student One: "I liked the messengers coming in. Everything happened off stage, and I thought it was kind of fun to see them come in and explain what was happening."
Professor: "So you liked it?"
Student One: "The play? Um... I liked the messengers..."
Professor: "Okay. I get it."

and

Student Two: "I didn't like Antigone at all."
Professor: "Well, we've pretty much already established no one liked it-"
Student Two: "No, I meant the character. It was almost like she wanted to die. Like she wanted to be a martyr. And well, I guess I didn't like the play, either. Sorry."

and

Student Three: "The more we talk about it in class, the more I get it, and start to like it."
Professor: "Oh, thank goodness."

and

Professor: "So, how can we apply Antigone to modern day, in both a religious and political sense?"
Student Four: "Well, I've been reading essays about how a lot of people think that America is going to turn Socialist."
He goes on about how it compares to the play

Student Four: "And I guess you can take the political statement about Creon and Tyranny in Antigone and apply that here."
Professor: "So what you're saying is that Obama is like King Creon and going to bring the Socialist downfall of America? That was a joke. Laugh."

two weeks

Two more weeks! :D

We found summer housing! John and I will be living on 700 N and 6-something W during the summer. We are so excited! It was a good price with all utilities included, and it's a good size. I'm so happy we'll be able to stay. I mean, I appreciate the parents agreeing to let us switch back and forth with them during the summer, but I am very happy to have a place that John and I can be a happy newly married couple together in our first home.

Ricky is doing well. He shed his skin this week for the first time! (I know this sounds like gross and annoying proud "pet parent" moment. One I swore I would never have. Man, I sound like an old lady.) But he ate it... he's been eating a lot of crickets. More than I expected. So I'm having to buy more. But they're only a few cents a piece, so it's not like I'm breaking the bank or anything. He's a growing boy!

Good Samaritans still exist. John and I drove to Idaho last weekend for Jake's graduation and endowments. It was later, around 10:30 PM, when I was doing my leg of the trip. My contacts were still in, and they were bothering my eyes. So, I pulled off the freeway at one of the exits so I could take them out and put my glasses on.

Have you seen cheesy, teen horror movies? This scene looked like one from them. There was absolutely nothing there. I don't know to where the exit was leading, but it wasn't anywhere close. I pulled over on a deserted farm road and popped the trunk. Then, a guy in a truck drove by, stopped, backed up and shone his headlights on us. I was a little scared, but not too much, since John was there with me. Then he asked if we needed any help, because everything was shut down for miles around, and he thought we were having car trouble. I thought he was wonderful for stopping to ask. You don't see that much anymore. I would've been incredibly grateful for his help if we really were having car trouble.

Well, I'm taking John on a date tonight! It's a surprise date, so I'll let you know how it goes later :)

Ciao.

Quotes of the Day:

Cody: "If you didn't just feel that swooping feeling come through the room, you need to take your spirit to Jiffy Lube for a tune up."

and

Professor Gordon-Smith: "Poetry is fun. But plays are... fun... too..."

and

Girl in Class: "My family takes the Freudian slip as a joke. A lot of people do. But I think a lot of people take it very seriously."
Professor Gordon-Smith: "Freud is probably the only one."
