patience is a virtue

I've been on pins and needles all week because Ty's getting his mission call any day! I think I'm going to have a hernia when he tells me where he's going. Either that or I will burst out into tears of joy and sadness and anxiety. Or I will laugh hysterically. As I've discovered recently, there is absolutely no line in between tears and laughter.

Either way, I want to know.

Quotes of the Day:

Amanda: "I've been attracted to objects before in dreams."
Me: "Like what?"
Amanda: "Like a robot."

and

Me: "I think the gold is ugly. I'd rather have silver. It's prettier."
Mom: "Okay. When you win your Olympic gold metal, you can say, 'Uh, excuse me? Can I have a silver one? It's prettier.'"

and

Me: "I hate it when my socks come out of the oven in an odd number. Wait, what did I say? ...Oh, crap."

good old amanda

We have fun conversations. So I just decided to write a whole blog of random quotes from our latest.

Me: "Well my friend, we are broke, single, and bored. What else is there to live for? Let's jump off a bridge."
Amanda: "dang i was gonna answer your questino with witty reparte, and then you added the bridge thing so it wouldnt' work anymore."
Me: "Oh. Sorry to ruin your witty remarks."

and

Amanda: "haha i know im just awesom like that, i'm like everyones piece of furniture in their house."
Me: "that kinda doesn't make sense, but it's funny because i'm only half awake."

and

Amanda: "Leave me and my awkward sentences alone!"

and

Me: "How many times did you just say the word 'sex'?"
Amanda: "Not enough."

and

Amanda: "i can't believe colin firth is gay, stupid."
Me: "he is?"
Amanda: "in the movie."
Me: "Oh. I was like, he is not! Nooooo!!!!"
Amanda: "haha... sorry didn't mean to scare you."

pilot hines

I flew a plane!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been smiling non stop since this morning! I was SO excited!!! I went with Thea and her dad, Jeff. He's a pilot and has his own little plane. It was lovely. I got to feel all official with the cool headset on, sitting in the co-pilot seat. I loved learning all about the plane. There's a lot more to it than you'd think. The movies (of course) are way wrong. Did you know you actually have to steer with petals at your feet? That combined with the wheel. There are a bunch of cool gadgets to look at and that tell you all the info. Although, I learned that when you get at a higher altitude, they aren't always accurate, so we used an electronic reader. Thank goodness for modern satellite technology.

It was really fun listening to all the other pilots on the radio through the headset. I didn't understand everything, but I got most of it and could follow where the other planes were. They use a different alphabet. All the planes are named with letters and numbers, and when you radio in, you have to say the name of the plane. The one we were in was 66L, so we were six six lima. It was funny to hear the other ones; foxtrot, charlie, tango, whisky, alpha...

We took off from the Minden airport and circled around the valley. We found my house and my mom was down on the ground waving. I couldn't see anything, but she claimed that she was down there with my grandparents. Then we headed up to Lake Tahoe and flew around the beautiful water. After that, we came down Carson Pass. That's when I flew the plane all by myself (sort of. Brother Whitaker told me what to do and kept an eye out. I definitely couldn't do it by myself yet). Then we landed again in the valley! It was fantastic. We were up for almost an hour.

I'm now more determined than ever to get a license when I'm older so I can fly my own planes.

This counts as the 24th thing I've crossed out on my list of things I want to do in my life. Just 76 more to go!

Quotes of the Day:

Me: "I don't know where to put this. Just like, I just set my purse down on an airplane wing today. Not very common."

and

Jeff: "And we've got flappage."
Thea: "Dad, that sounds like a dirty word."

and

Thea: "I'm just so freakin' delicate!"

apology

I feel like I've been brat major lately. So, I'm sorry. I need to get over myself. Thank you all for putting up with me.

Yours sincerely,

Allie

Quotes of the Day:

Me: "I get to go vote. I get to go pretend I make a difference."

and

Me: "We're getting fish eggs everywhere."

being single (again)...

...and my feelings about it.

1) Annoyed. It truly is annoying to ward off weird guys and to try to go through the whole beginning awkward stages of dating. It's all just... annoying.

2) I don't know how to pick just one word for this feeling. It's like an "I don't feel like trying or putting in my best effort" feeling. But not lazy... I need Ashley to find this word for me. I know it exists. I just can't think of it. I guess this feeling will pass. I feel this way because now it's going to be like comparing peas to chocolate ice cream. And the only thing I have to choose from is peas. But I'd rather have my chocolate ice cream... like my mom says. Why waste calories on something when you can wait and save them all for something really good later?

3) Slightly curious. Just by nature.

4) Happy. How often do you get to have an easy separation where you become best friends? The best part is that it's for an absolutely incredibly amazing reason.

5) Super excited! Excited that Ty gets to go out and be a missionary! Ah, I'm almost jealous of him.

6) Grateful. No, eternally grateful. Eternally grateful for every single second that I had.

once again, my life should be a musical

something in the way he moves
attracts me like no other lover.
something in the way he woos me...

i don't wanna leave him now,
you know i believe and how.

somewhere in his smile, he knows
that i don't need no other lover.
something in his style that shows me.

i don't wanna leave him now,
you know i believe and how.

you're asking me will my love grow.
i don't know, i don't know.
you stick around now, it may show,
i don't know, i don't know!

something in they way he knows,
and all i have to do is think of him.
something in the thing he shows me.

i don't wanna leave him now,
you know i believe and how...

proof that i really am a nerd

I would die to be a vampire. Literally. And I mean that in all seriousness. I would totally do it.

Breaking Dawn is making me very happy. And jealous.

I'd rather be a vampire than an elf. And that is saying something, since I've wanted to be an elf since the first time I saw Lord of the Rings.

I want to be a vampire.
Why?
1) I would be indestructible. I could do anything without fear.
2) I would be really strong, and I wouldn't have to ask anyone for help to open the pop bottle again. Actually, I'd probably break the pop bottle in my attempt to open it.
3) I wouldn't need to open the pop bottle because I don't need to eat. I'd save tons of money from not buying food.
4) I could have eternity to learn everything I've ever wanted to learn.
5) I could find and join the Cullens and be ridiculously rich. I could work and learn for fun rather than necessity.
6) I would be beyond beautiful
7) I'd only have to "eat" every once in a while... don't think about it being animal blood... I wouldn't mind
8) All of my senses would be sharpened beyond imagination. I could hear, see, and smell everything. How amazing would that be?
9) And another that I don't really want to say because I would spoil the last book... so I'll save it for later.

So my brother Drew created a new schedule for church.
Sacrament meeting will have a normal opening, announcements, and the Sacrament. Then there's one speaker. Sunday school is cut, and the other meetings are 30 minutes long.

It's all for the children. So the little kids don't have to sit still so long. Yeah...

Quotes of the Day:

Me: "Andrew has a new solution to church."
Grandpa: "A fast-forward button?"
Tyler: "That's called a nap."

and

Me: "We're having my Lord of the Rings marathon tomorrow! Are you doing it, Tyler?"
Tyler: "I'm......... tapering my bedspread."
Drew: "What are you now, a girl?"

and

Drew: "I got mono at BYU."
Tyler: "What was her name?"
Drew: "...Holly..."

My Christmas List

1. Crystal ball

2. Time machine

3. Hermione's time turner

4. Magic spindle

5. Poison apple.

Any of the above would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

P.S. I'm still undecided about Breaking Dawn... I got to be the most beautiful and stunningly gorgeous girl in existence for one night. It was fun. I felt indestructible. Until I lost the costume contest.

ugh, I need an Aleve.

Quote of the Day:

Tyler: "If they don't comply, then I'll pull the technology card. I'm sure I can disable any electronic device in the house."
Me: "And all four of us [siblings] could probably make it work if we needed it, but I bet Mom and Dad wouldn't have a clue."
Mom: "I think I hear conspiring going on in there."
Tyler: "I was talking about Arrested Development, and that I wish they had it on Netflix instant play."
Dad: "Oh, isn't that the show about that one guy..."
Mom: "Ah, you fell for it. It was a ploy."
Dad: "What?"
